For more information regarding any of these areas, contact the Director of Student Support Services and Title IX Coordinator, Amber Sims, at asims@midland.edu.

The Chaps Helping Chaps - Student Emergency Fund program is funded by the Midland College community; faculty, staff, alumni, retirees, and community members. The program helps MC students enrolled in credit-bearing courses stay in school by assisting them with emergency needs. These needs include, but are not limited to, utility bills, gas, transportation needs, vehicle repairs, etc. Students may apply for funds here.

The Chap Pantry allows students to receive items in times of need. Students may apply for items from pantry and there is designated pick up dates, times, and locations to receive items. The inventory is limited and focuses on basic essentials like hygiene products, paper goods, and a small selection of non-perishable food items.

More information can be obtained on the Chaps Helping Chaps and Chap Pantry on the website.

Counseling and Mental Health Services

Students experiencing issues regarding life adjustments may receive confidential personal/social adjustment counseling. Students may communicate with the on-campus Counselor in person, via phone or through email. Mental Health resources are located Health & Wellness - Mental Health Resources.

CARE (Consultation, Assessment, Resources, Education) Team

While interacting with students across the college, faculty and staff may be confronted with situations in which a student is displaying concerning behavior. The CARE Team is designed to assist them. Behaviors of concern might be observed in a number of settings: in the classroom, at a service location or office, at an on-campus job, or during participation at an extracurricular activity. By reporting concerning behaviors, the CARE Team will reach out to students, providing intervention, resources, and referrals as needed. The CARE report form is available online.
