Are you ready to join a growing field in healthcare? The Midland College Sonography program prepares you for a dynamic and rewarding career in diagnostic imaging.
Midland College offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Sonography. This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS).

Graduates of the program may earn the credential of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by taking the national registry exam offered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
The Midland College Sonography program is a competitive admission program, and not all applicants are admitted. The application submission period is May 15 - June 15 each year.
Steps to Apply
1. Complete Applications
• Submit the Midland College application.
• Submit the Midland College Health Sciences Application.
2. Take the ATI Teas Exam: Achieve a minimum level of Proficient on the ATI Test of
Essential Academic Skills (Version 7).
3. Complete a Clinical Site Visit:
• Must be completed within 12 months prior to application submission (after June 15 of the
previous year).
4. Complete Prerequisite Courses: Earn a minimum grade of “C” in the following:
• HPRS 1106 , Essentials of Medical Terminology
5. Earn Additional Admissions Points: Complete the following courses with a grade of “B” or above:
• Humanities/Fine Arts Elective
6. Ensure Required Immunizations are Up to Date:
• Immunization compliance tracking is provided by CastleBranch. Students must create an
account and upload proper documentation.
• Required immunizations:
• Hepatitis B
• Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
• Varicella
• Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (TDAP) - expires after 10 years
• Bacterial Meningitis (if required by Texas enrollment requirements as listed in the Midland
College Catalog).
7. International Students: Must complete the TOEFL iBT test with a score of 79% or higher.
Program Requirements
Accepted students must:
• Take all sonography courses in sequential order.
• Pass all required courses with a minimum grade of “C”.
• Maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support licensure throughout the duration of the
program.
• Maintain health insurance coverage throughout the duration of the program.
Completion Requirements
To receive an AAS degree in Sonography, a student must:
• Complete Midland College General Requirements for Degrees and Certificates
• Complete all major courses with a “C” or better
• Have an overall GPA of 2.0 or better
