Students will no longer be admitted to the Field of Study, Nursing Certificate program effective Fall 2025. Enrolled students will be able to complete program requirements.
If you have a heart for caring, a passion for helping others, and a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, nursing may be your calling!
Midland College offers two pathways to earn an Associate Degree in Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing:
- Traditional ADN Track - for students new to nursing
- LVN to ADN Bridge Track - for Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) seeking career advancement
The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program prepares graduates for entry-level practice as professional registered nurses. After completing the program, receiving approval from the Texas Board of Nursing, and passing the NCLEX-RN®, graduates are eligible for licensure as Registered Nurses (RNs).
The Midland College ADN program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing, located at 1801 Congress Avenue, Suite 10-200, Austin, Texas 78701; phone (512) 305-7400.
Program Options
Traditional ADN Track
- Designed for students entering nursing
- Four semesters in length (plus prerequisites)
- Offered at the Midland College main campus
LVN to ADN Bridge Track
- Designed for LVNs with an active Texas license
- Two semesters after completing general education requirements
- Offered at the Midland College main campus
- Also delivered via interactive video to Fort Stockton’s Williams Regional Technical Training Center (WRTTC)
Both tracks require the same general education courses; nursing courses differ by pathway. Clinical instruction is a key component of the program with experiences being held in hospitals and community agencies in Midland, Odessa, and Big Spring each semester. Simulation learning also takes place in the F. Marie Hall SimLife Center on the Midland campus.
Admission to the ADN Program is competitive due to cohort size limitations and the availability of clinical placement sites. Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission.
The application submission due date is May 25 for Fall entry and October 25 for Spring entry each year.
