There are three main objectives of the Department of Mathematics:
1. Provide a sound curriculum for students who wish to pursue a career in mathematics or mathematical education
2. Provide adequate training for students in science, engineering, and occupational technical programs
3. Provide math courses to satisfy general degree requirements.
Mathematics Placement
Students who are exempt from the Texas Success Initiative and wish to enroll in a math class above college-entry level math, must take a math placement test. Students should contact the Midland College Testing Center at (432) 685-4504 for testing information.
The courses listed in the program below are suggested for students who intend to major in Mathematics at a university. Students should also consult the catalog of the university that they plan to attend and determine that institution’s transfer requirements.
The sequence of courses should be followed when possible.
