Early Childhood Education (Bachelor of Applied Science)

The Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education (BAS-ECE) includes upper-division courses that prepare students to be lead classroom teachers, teacher aides or program specialists in early childhood education private school settings, afterschool programs and early childhood centers such as Early Head Start, Head Start, non-profit preschools, and private infant/toddler programs. Graduates may also seek teacher certification through an approved alternative educator certification program.

Students will no longer be admitted to this program effective Spring 2024. Enrolled students will be able to complete program requirements.

Program Completion Requirements:

  1. Complete the EC-3 option of the MC AAT or equivalent; and
  2. Complete 60 credit-hours of required junior- and senior-level coursework; and
  3. Complete 30 credit hours of the required junior- and senior-level coursework at MC; and
  4. Have a grade of C or better in each junior- and senior-level course except ELED 4601 Practicum, which is graded as Pass or Fail. Have a grade of Pass in ELED 4601.
