Organizational Management (Bachelor of Applied Science)

The Organizational Management program’s objectives are to 1) develop managers and leaders who can identify and leverage organizational strengths and opportunities; 2) demonstrate the ability to embrace organizational change; 3) take initiatives to apply efficient technologies in an organization; and 4) develop the courage to empower others in an organization to achieve positive results.  The program is designed to prepare students for career positions requiring an understanding of management operations in complex and challenging business environments.

Program Admission Requirements

In order to be admitted, students must:

  1. Meet all College admission requirements (application, transcripts, etc.).
  2. Complete a program admission application and receive approval from the Program Admission Committee.
  3. Have an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree or equivalent. Students who have completed an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree may seek entrance to the program after completing 38 credit hours of approved technical specialty coursework.  See Department Chair for additional information.

Students who have not earned an Associate in Applied Science degree or equivalent, can apply to be admitted as a pre-Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) student. See Department Chair for more information.

Completion Requirements

To receive a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree, a student must:
 
1.  Complete a minimum of 120 credit hours through the following:
      a.   45 credit hours of approved lower-level coursework. (A minimum of 38 credit hours must be
            from approved technical specialty coursework. The remaining 7 credit hours can be from
            approved technical specialty coursework OR from approved non-technical lower-level elective
            coursework);
       b.  42 credit hours of State-prescribed Core Curriculum Requirements coursework; 
       c.  33 credit hours of upper-level coursework;
2.  Complete a minimum of 24 upper-level credit hours required for the degree through
      instruction at Midland College;
3.  Have an overall GPA of at least 2.0 (out of a 4.0 scale) for coursework applicable to the degree;
     and
4.  Earn a grade of “C” or better in each upper-level (numbered 3xxx and 4xxx) course.
 
Students nearing completion of an Associate in Applied Science degree

Students who are within 15 credit hours of completing an Associate in Applied Science degree and who have completed the following may enroll in up to 6 credit hours of upper-level courses prior to full consideration into the BAS program:

  1.  ENGL 1301 ;
  2.  One of the following: SPCH 1311 , SPCH 1315 , SPCH 1318 , or SPCH 1321 ;
  3. TSI complete in Mathematics
