The dual credit Health Sciences Foundation offers preparation for a variety of health-related careers. Courses such as Medical Terminology, Health Care Communication Skills, Body Systems, Human Disease, and Health Promotion serve as a foundation for concept and skill exploration. By completing this foundation coursework of the dual credit Health Sciences Academy, students can later pursue certifications in Nurse Aide, Pharmacy Tech, EKG, and Phlebotomy, with opportunities to complete programs in Patient Care Technician or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). This sets the students on a pathway toward healthcare professions such as nursing or college medical programs. The Academy offers state-of-the-art equipment and connections to our local medical community through guest speakers, field trips, and clinical placements.
